With flat or retracted stomas, delicate peristomal skin is at higher risk of exposure to corrosive bodily fluids. Convex barriers or inserts curve inward like a bell and can help form a complete seal between skin and pouch.
A disposable convex insert is designed to snap into – or mold around the skin beneath – a standard skin barrier or wafter, and press down on the peristomal skin.
